Forest Protection
"We believe to protect the forest must start from the community around the forest. CAN collaborates with the village government and the community to build a conservation village with the values of local wisdom"
MERASA VILLAGE
Downstream of the kelay river in the village of Merasa, CAN cooperated with the community to restore the land with the concept of agroforestry, so that the burned land has now become forest again. In the upstream part, CAN cooperates with the community to protect the forests and mountains of Kars which are the biggest reservoirs of water to support the existence of the Kelay river. Inside the karst mountain there are prehistoric caves containing archeological items from the Dayak tribe 500-100 years ago.
CAN collaborates with the village managemen to build a tourism village to provide additional income for the Merasa village community. The main objects are the forest, karst area and wildlife.
LESAN DAYAK VILLAGE
We work with the people of Lesan Dayak Village to protect the habitat of orangutans on the Lesan river, in this area there are at least 60 orangutans living. CAN together with the community to patrol the forest from hunting and illegal logging activities.
